A Recreational Vehicle Is a Significant Investment. Treat It Like One.

An RV represents one of the largest purchases most families make after their home. Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels, travel trailers, and Class C units all share a common vulnerability: their exterior surfaces are constantly exposed to the elements, and their interiors endure the wear of living space rather than just transportation. The oxidation that dulls a fiberglass sidewall, the black streaks that form beneath every window and vent, the roof deterioration that leads to leaks, and the interior mustiness that develops during storage — these are conditions that progress when unaddressed and cost significantly more to repair than to prevent.

Boise Mobile Auto Detailing provides thorough RV and motorhome detailing for owners across the Treasure Valley. We bring our equipment to your storage location, your driveway, or your campsite and restore every surface to a clean, protected condition.

Who It’s For

RV detailing is for any owner who wants to maintain the condition and value of their recreational vehicle. Common situations that prompt an RV detail include:

  • Pre-season preparation. After months of winter storage in the Treasure Valley, your RV needs a comprehensive cleaning before the first trip. Dust, cobwebs, mildew, and surface oxidation accumulate even in covered storage.
  • Post-trip cleaning. A long road trip to McCall, Stanley, or beyond introduces road grime, bug impacts, and interior wear that should be addressed before the next period of storage.
  • Before winter storage. A clean, protected RV stores better. Wax prevents oxidation during dormant months. Clean interiors discourage mildew and pest activity.
  • Pre-sale preparation. A detailed RV presents dramatically better to buyers. Clean exteriors and fresh interiors directly influence perceived value and selling price.
  • Annual maintenance. Even with regular trips to the car wash, an annual professional detail addresses the areas that routine cleaning misses.

What’s Included

Exterior Wash and Decontamination

We perform a full hand wash of the entire exterior, working from the roof down. RV exteriors are large, and the two-bucket method scales to meet the surface area. We use brushes and mitts appropriate for the exterior material, whether it is painted fiberglass, gel coat, smooth-side aluminum, or corrugated aluminum siding. Bug residue, road tar, and mineral deposits are treated with targeted removers before the general wash.

Oxidation Removal and Restoration

Fiberglass and gel coat surfaces oxidize over time, developing a chalky, dull appearance that worsens with each season of UV exposure. Idaho’s elevation and clear skies accelerate this process. We remove oxidation through machine compounding, restoring the original color and gloss to the sidewalls. For heavily oxidized units, this step alone transforms the appearance of the entire vehicle.

Black Streak Removal

Black streaks are among the most common and frustrating cosmetic issues RV owners face. They form when water runs off the roof carrying dissolved rubber, sealant residue, and environmental contaminants. We treat black streaks with dedicated products that dissolve the deposits without damaging the underlying surface.

Roof Cleaning and Protection

The roof is the most neglected surface on most RVs, and it is the most critical to maintain. Rubber roofs (TPO and EPDM) require specific cleaners that remove dirt and mildew without degrading the membrane. After cleaning, we apply a UV protectant that extends the roof’s service life. Fiberglass roofs are cleaned and waxed. We also inspect and clean around all roof penetrations — vents, antennas, air conditioner units, and sealant lines.

Slide-Out Seals and Awning

Slide-out seals accumulate debris, mold, and grime that can compromise their function and allow water intrusion. We clean and condition all slide-out seals to maintain flexibility and sealing performance. Awning fabric is cleaned on both sides to remove mildew, staining, and environmental deposits.

Interior Deep Clean

RV interiors function as living spaces, not just passenger compartments. We clean and treat every surface: kitchen counters, bathroom fixtures, upholstery, carpet, window coverings, and cabinetry. Fabric surfaces receive hot water extraction. Hard surfaces are cleaned and dressed. Refrigerators, microwaves, and other appliances are cleaned inside and out. The goal is a fresh, clean interior that is ready for your next trip.

Storage Bays and Compartments

Exterior storage bays accumulate dirt, leaves, and spilled supplies. We clean and vacuum all accessible compartments, including the water bay, electrical compartment, and pass-through storage areas.

Our Process

  1. Assessment — We evaluate the RV’s exterior condition, roof type, interior state, and any areas of particular concern.

  2. Roof First — Cleaning starts at the roof and works down, ensuring dirty water does not contaminate already-cleaned surfaces below.

  3. Exterior Wash — Complete hand wash of sidewalls, front cap, rear cap, and undercarriage areas as accessible.

  4. Decontamination — Black streak removal, bug removal, and mineral deposit treatment.

  5. Oxidation Correction — Machine compounding on fiberglass and gel coat surfaces.

  6. Exterior Protection — Wax or sealant applied to all exterior surfaces. Rubber roof protectant applied.

  7. Seals and Awning — Slide-out seals cleaned and conditioned. Awning cleaned and treated.

  8. Interior — Complete interior deep clean from ceiling to floor, including all living spaces, bathroom, and kitchen.

  9. Glass and Mirrors — All interior and exterior glass cleaned to a streak-free finish.

  10. Compartments — Storage bays and exterior compartments cleaned.

  11. Final Walk-Through — We review the completed work with you, interior and exterior, to confirm every area has been addressed.

The Boise Storage Challenge

Many RV owners in the Treasure Valley store their units outdoors or in semi-covered facilities. Idaho’s climate cycle — intense summer sun, winter freezing, spring pollen, and seasonal wind carrying dust from the surrounding desert — means that even stored RVs accumulate surface damage. A professional detail before and after each storage period is the most effective way to preserve the exterior finish and interior livability of your investment.

Mobile Service for Large Vehicles

Our equipment is built to handle the scale of RV detailing. We carry adequate water supply, extension poles for roof and upper sidewall access, and the full range of products needed for every surface type found on recreational vehicles. We service RVs at homes, storage facilities, and RV parks throughout the Boise area.

RV Detailing Questions and Answers

How long does an RV detail take? +
An RV detail typically takes 6 to 10 hours depending on the vehicle size and condition. Class A motorhomes and heavily oxidized units may require a full day or more. We provide a specific time estimate after assessing your RV.
Do you clean the RV roof? +
Yes. Roof cleaning is included in every RV detail. We use products appropriate for your roof type, whether it is rubber (TPO or EPDM), fiberglass, or aluminum. After cleaning, we apply a UV protectant to extend the roof membrane life.
