Your Paint Deserves More Than a Drive-Through Rinse
Every time you drive through Boise, your vehicle’s exterior absorbs punishment. Road grit from construction zones along Eagle Road, mineral deposits from hard water sprinklers, tree sap from the mature elms that line the North End streets, brake dust from stop-and-go traffic on Fairview Avenue. These contaminants bond to your clear coat and, over time, degrade the finish in ways that a touchless car wash cannot reverse.
A professional-grade exterior detail is a deliberate, multi-stage process that removes bonded contamination, restores gloss, and applies protection. Boise Mobile Auto Detailing brings this process to your driveway, your office parking lot, or any location across the Treasure Valley where your vehicle sits.

Who It’s For
Exterior detailing is for anyone who wants their vehicle’s finish maintained properly. Whether you drive a daily commuter that has lost its luster, a weekend vehicle you want to keep pristine, or a recently purchased car you want to protect from the start, this service establishes a clean, protected baseline. It is also the recommended foundation before paint correction or ceramic coating, as those services require a decontaminated surface to perform correctly.
What’s Included
Pre-Wash and Rinse
We begin with a thorough rinse to remove loose debris. For vehicles with heavy soiling, we apply a foam pre-wash that softens and lifts dirt before any contact is made with the paint. This step prevents the wash mitt from dragging particles across the surface, which is how swirl marks are introduced during careless washes.
Two-Bucket Hand Wash
We use the two-bucket method: one bucket with fresh soap solution, one with clean rinse water. The wash mitt is rinsed after each panel to prevent cross-contamination. This is a foundational technique in professional detailing, and it is one of the primary reasons a proper hand wash produces results that automated washes cannot match.
Clay Bar Decontamination
After washing, the paint surface may still feel rough to the touch. That roughness comes from bonded contaminants: industrial fallout, rail dust, tree sap residue, and overspray. A clay bar glides across the lubricated surface and physically removes these particles, leaving the paint glass-smooth. This is a critical step before any polishing or protection, and it is one of the most tangible differences you will feel in a professionally detailed vehicle.
Paint Decontamination
For vehicles with iron contamination or heavier deposits, we apply a chemical decontamination step. Iron removers react with ferrous particles embedded in the clear coat, dissolving them without abrasion. You will see the reaction happen as the product changes color on contact with iron deposits.
Machine Polish
A single-stage machine polish using a dual-action polisher brings out the depth and clarity of your paint. This is not a correction service — it is a gloss-enhancement step that removes light marring and brings the finish to a uniform shine. For deeper defects, we recommend our dedicated paint correction service.
Wax or Sealant Protection
The final step is a layer of protection. You may choose carnauba wax for its warm, deep gloss, or a synthetic sealant for extended durability. Both options shield your clear coat from UV exposure, water spots, and environmental contaminants. In the Boise climate, where summers bring intense sun and winters bring road salt and magnesium chloride, this layer of protection is not optional if you care about your paint’s longevity.
Tire, Wheel, and Trim
Wheels are cleaned with a pH-neutral wheel cleaner that dissolves brake dust without damaging the finish. Tires are scrubbed and dressed with a UV-protectant that maintains a natural, non-greasy appearance. Exterior trim is dressed to restore color and prevent fading.
Glass
All exterior glass is cleaned to a streak-free finish. We address water spots, bug residue, and film that accumulates on windshields from wiper blade wear.

The Boise Climate Factor
The Treasure Valley presents a specific set of challenges for automotive paint. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100 degrees, and UV intensity at Boise’s elevation accelerates clear coat degradation. Winter brings road treatments that are corrosive to paint, wheels, and trim. Spring delivers pollen, and the irrigation season produces hard water spots from sprinkler overspray. A regular exterior detailing schedule, typically every two to three months, is the most effective way to stay ahead of these conditions. For seasonal guidance, see our winter car care tips for Boise vehicles.
